Our brief was to create a modern family home that better utilised the modest site and embodied the essence of Bondi Beach holiday living. With its minimalist frontage and nature inspired palette, the new home is a fresh and contemporary interpretation of an urban beach house. The layout has been designed to maximise functional use of all available space. A split-level design resolves the transition in site levels and provides height under the stairs to conceal the laundry, and within the single garage to accommodate a double-car stacker. Expansive sliders across the rear connect the open-plan living area to the garden, extending the overall space. The home and electric vehicle are solar powered, minimising environmental impact. Home automation streamlines lighting, temperature, and security control. Windows and skylights flood the interiors with natural light, facilitating cross-ventilation and cooling. Outside, a retractable pergola awning provides all-weather shelter over the entertaining area, and a prefabricated tiled pool is incorporated for a custom look at lower cost.Breezeway block walls and linear screens create privacy and filtered light-plays, complemented by low-maintenance landscaping.Durable pre-finished external materials create a low-maintenance palette inspired by the beach and carry through to the interiors featuring neutral tones, textural tiles, and soft timber accents. With its nature-inspired palette, tactile finishes and functional design solutions, the new home is a comfortable modern take on beach holiday living.
