As the main living areas are located upstairs, there was a need to provide convenient and practical access to the upper floor of the home, for the transportation of passengers, groceries and other heavy items, from the garage below. To fulfil this requirement, Mike Flooks specified a Magic Carpet Platform Lift from Access Elevators.
"It was also installed to future-proof the home, for the convenience of older people who may not be so able with stairs. Having a lift ensures the house is suitable for a wider range of people, and is beneficial when it comes to resale," says Flooks.
The Magic Carpet Lift will transport up to five people to a maximum of four floors in homes or light commercial buildings. Standard safety features include a battery back-up and emergency exit facility. The system is well suited to residential use as it is easy to install and requires little maintenance.
