When you walk in this apartment, the hardest thing to do is to drag your eyes away from the outlook.

The ground floor apartment opens up to views starting at Auckland’s Mission Bay and sweeping along the harbour past Rangitoto and round to St Heliers.

And with its elevated position, there's no sign or sound from the road below, just an apparently seamless visual connection to the harbour.

But when you do manage to turn your back on that view, you'll find yourself in a perfectly planned, spacious interior finished to a very high level specification throughout.

The apartment is one of three in the clifftop development by experienced developers Peter and Judy Jones, who have also built their own home on the adjoining section.

The pair worked on this latest project with long-time collaborators architect Brian Cullen and interior designer Jennie Dunlop.

A timeless architectural design with a contemporary edge in all the projects created by this team has been synonymous with Peter and Judy Jones' vision of producing a high end finished product.

Judy Jones says this development started with extensive groundwork involving piling, ground beams and stabilising work, and took three and half years to complete.

"Due to the generous apartment size we were able to create large open plan living with light filled spaces, and high studs with full height doors along the expansive front to captures the expansive views over the Hauraki Gulf," she says.

Interior designer Jennie Dunlop says the brief was to encapsulate the wonderful vista with an interior that was sophisticated but with a relaxed beachfront vibe.

"Incorporated into the design are touches of warm glamorous features including feature wallcoverings, specialised lighting and beautiful natural stone which has softened the light wall tones of greyed white," she says.

Wide-plank driftwood-coloured oak flooring through the main living areas reflects the beach aesthetic and adds a soft, neutral palette to build the interior scheme.

"The mirrored splashback behind the cooktop reflects the amazing sea views and the continually changing movement on Tamaki Drive," says Judy Jones.

Meanwhile, specially sourced tiles in the main bathroom combine with concealed LED lighting to add to the feeling of opulence and warmth.
