Celebrate the best of Australian design and check out the winners of the 2020 TIDA Australia Bathroom Awards. Featuring very unique spaces but also some clear design themes these bathrooms are sure to inspire

We're delighted to introduce the winners from the 2020 TIDA Australia Bathroom Awards. Following on from our recent New Zealand Awards, this year's winning designs showcase natural materials, a penchant for round bath tubs and one impressive suite that looks like it's from a James Bond film.

Each year, architects and designers submit their projects into five categories which include bathrooms, suites and powder rooms. Now the winning designs from both Australia and New Zealand will compete in the International Awards.

Check out the winning bathrooms below and don't forget to let us know what your favourite designs are on Facebook and Instagram.

1. TIDA Australia Designer Bathroom of the Year

Architect: Darren James, Darren James Interiors

This bathroom is an artistic meeting of form and functionality. A rich material palette of American oak timber, veined natural stone tiles and brushed nickel accessories creates a luxurious, retreat-like atmosphere for the couple. From the moody ambience to the interesting layering of spaces, this ensuite design does luxury living in a unique way.

2. TIDA Australia Powder Room of the Year

Designer: Penny del Castillo, In Design International

This family's partial Greek heritage inspired the design of this glamorous powder room. A nod towards column details seen in the architecture of the classical world are introduced in timber fluting of the joinery door-fronts. Vibrantly veined stone slabs and striking vinyl-faced wallpaper add plenty of personality into the space.

3. TIDA Australia Architect-Designed Suite of the Year

Architect: Gavin Hestelow, Giorgi

The blonde wood cabinetry and natural stone elements used in this bathroom create an aesthetic that feels like a calming day spa. Centred around a circular, freestanding bath, this bathroom takes inspiration from Japanese rituals of bathing to achieve a considered space.

4. TIDA Australia Architect-Designed Bathroom of the Year

Architect: Taras Wolf, Wolf Architects

Symmetry plays an important role in the design of this ensuite. The round, statement bathtub wonderfully contrasts the material palette of warm wood and brushed copper fixtures. Tucked away behind the bath is the twin shower, above which is a skylight that allows the luxury of showering under the sky or stars.

5. TIDA Australia Designer Suite of the Year

Designer: Mark Gacesa, Ultraspace

With secret panels, glittering surfaces and a pop-up television, this impressive bathroom looks like it's straight out of a Bond film. The sprawling space is split into sculptural zones that create a sense of excitement and luxury.
