A two-tone colour scheme in this penthouse apartment kitchen ensures the space is at one with the entire room. Architect Nicholas Solomon chose the distinctive palette in part because it tones with the hues of the nearby beach. The cutout in the perimeter stairway wall echoes the shape of the island, the Noguchi coffee table and the footprint of the penthouse itself. Furniture pieces chosen by the architect include the Barcelona chairs by Mies van der Rohe and a Charles Eames club chair in cowhide.
