What dreams are made of

When David Reid Homes Pukekohe engaged Leonie Hamill of Cube Dentro to add her interior design flair to their latest display home, some inspired interior bathroom design resulted. 

This consisted of two cohesive yet unique spaces, each with distinct character and atmosphere, that are among the star features of the build.

Renown for her close attention to detail and ability to create practical yet luxurious spaces, Hamill found the tiles that fulfilled her vision for this home, but they weren’t stocked in the size she wanted. 

Indent orders were made, which in this current climate of chaotic shipping shows her ability to plan well ahead, and large slab format tiles were sourced.  

An important design decision was made to let the veining and patterning of these stone-effect tiles sing with minimal grout disruption. Laid floor to ceiling, the tiles create a grand, spacious feel that oozes a sense of luxury.

The main bathroom is a bright and fresh space perfect for family members, tiled with Trilogy Sandy Grey in a 600x1200mm slab format.  

A remarkable tile in its own right, Trilogy Sandy Grey is a realistic grey marble-effect porcelain made by leading Italian manufacturer Panaria. 

The tile not only looks beautiful, it also has a soft matt finish that is incredibly tactile.  

Furthermore, it is part of the Panaria-Protect collection and has been produced with Microban™ technology. 

This ensures that 99% of bacteria is eliminated upon contact with the tile surface – a function that remains active 24 hours a day for the life of the tile. 

Beautiful, hardwearing, tactile, and antibacterial, Trilogy Sandy Grey is a high performing tile.

Where the main bathroom is bright and fresh, the ensuite contrasts with a dark and moody atmosphere. 

This is a phenomenal space that recently afforded Leonie Hamill a Runner Up award in the recent TIDA Bathroom Awards. 

United with the main bathroom via the consistent use of iron tapware, basins and towel rails, marble vanity tops, and curvaceous mirrors, the ensuite is a cocooning and captivating space.

The ensuite is adorned floor-to-ceiling with a rather spectacular tile, Stardust Deep 750x1500mm. 

This is a dark, striking Italian porcelain inspired by the contrasts and brightness of a starlit sky. 

With a distinct shimmer across the surface that gently welcomes and reflects light, Stardust Deep has a look that is uniquely its own. 

The result is an ensuite that is dark but definitely not gloomy – instead, it is a vibrant and welcoming space designed for lingering, and pampering. 

Every design element has been carefully considered, including the striking reed glass shower screens and strategic lighting that enhances every element in the space.

Not only has Leonie Hamill helped to create dream bathrooms in this beautifully crafted David Reid Homes home, but also a dream laundry – a space so opulent that doing the laundry is no longer a chore.

Continuing the use of marble-effect porcelain stoneware, the laundry splashback has been tiled with Macchia Vecchia 600x1200mm.

This is a white marble-look porcelain tile that emulates natural Calacatta Macchia Vecchia stone with all its gorgeous gold, black, grey and ochre veining.

The warm golden marble effect tile stands out to striking effect against the sleek black cabinetry and benchtop as well as being easy to clean.

The resulting laundry space is both visually spectacular and highly practical.

This stunning display home and its attention to detail, is definitely what dreams are made of.
