Not every pool wants to be the all singing/all dancing star of an outdoor environment and this simple, clean-lined swimming pool impresses for its refined presence, ergonomic efficiency, and also by being extremely light on power bills.

Running alongside its contemporary ideally situated home, the pool is 12m long and 3m wide, ideal for grandchildren to play in and for swimming lengths.

Understated elegance

The pool's simple lines ensure it doesn't detract from the views while glass safety balustrading is in clear glass – so nothing gets in the way of the scenery.

The understated pool also lets the owners' outdoor artworks, including prominent sculptures by Phil Price and Terry Stringer, lead the eye.

The swimming pool's grey toned lining is a match with the flamed granite pool coping that completes the pool.

Sitting pretty

Underwater steps leading into the pool at the shallow end also make for idea casual seating without detracting from the pool's pared back lines.

Utilising our nearest star

The pool is the perfect proportions for the land available while its modest depth of 1.8m at the deep end makes the pool easier to heat.

This fact together with the sunny climate and a heat retaining pool cover mean the pool is heated solely by the direct heat of the sun and by the array of solar panels on the adjacent home's roof.

In fact, the only related power bill is to run the electric pumps, to run the water through the panels, and also for filtration.
