Warm, dark, textured and smooth
Tones and textures are at play in this beachside master ensuite – the layout promotes a sense of spaciousness while also being functional
Designed by Dane Richardson, Dane Design Australia
From the bathroom designer:
The owners' brief for their main ensuite in their new beachside holiday home was for a place for relaxing, contemplating, preparing for the day ahead and unwinding at the end of the day.
The integration of elements – such as ambient lighting, a large skylight above the bathtub that floods the space with natural light, and a rich, dark palette – creates a luxury, spa-like feeling.
Located on level three of the home, directly behind the main bedroom, the layout of the ensuite allows for a sense of spaciousness while also being practical and functional.

The floating double vanity unit and recessed overhead cabinet with mirrored doors provide ample storage and help to keep the space organised and uncluttered.
The materials palette was selected to carry forward the overall design theme of the home while creating a rich contrast of warm timber tones, and dark textured engineered stone, paired with clean, simple lines.
The surfaces are high quality and durable while balancing warm, dark, textured and smooth, creating a moody, alluring feel.
The result is a beautiful, calming, simple yet impactful space.
The design incorporates a number of features that respond to Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles – these include energy-efficient lighting and water efficient water fixtures and fittings.
