The house was designed by Masonry Design Solutions and built by Nautica Homes View of masonry home with clay roofing tiles. With any European-style villa, authenticity is critical. And it stands to reason that the materials will have as much bearing on the overall look as the design. To provide the right look for this home, designer Mark Wilson specified Lucentum clay roof tiles from Espana Ceramica."We wanted tiles with the colour and texture to provide a very aged look," he says. "The Lucentum clay tiles not only have this appearance, they also have the large, barrel profile we were after." View of masonry home with clay roofing tiles. Marshall Burrowes of Espana Ceramica says the company specialises in the supply of aged tiles, and although the tiles come in a number of colourways, no two tiles are the same."Varying light and dark tones adds to the authenticity, as does the texture," Burrowes says. "The texture is not simply pressed into the tile, but is baked onto the actual surface so you can see and feel the difference. Once installed, the tiles give the roof a completely non-uniform, authentic aged appearance. They also create a very detailed roof with a lot of visual depth."But despite their weathered look, the clay tiles are manufactured in up-to-the-minute facilities, using the latest technology. "In addition, they will never lose their colour the weathered look simply improves over time."Burrowes says the tiles can withstand temperature extremes and are guaranteed for 20 years. The Espana Ceramica clay tile system includes decorative finishing pieces and accessories.
