Understated elegance is a hallmark of kitchens by designer Shane George

Shane George, of Shane George Design, started his career path as a joiner and has been involved in building and renovating homes. However, he soon became particularly interested in kitchens and bathrooms and interiors.

“So I got to the point where I sort of moved sideways and trained in design. It’s something I continue to grow in and have a passion for.”

Fast forward and now Shane George Design has a string of design awards stretching back over 20 years, including several in the Trends International Design Awards (TIDA) programme.

Shane George draws inspiration from a variety of sources – from what's happening online and just getting inspired by different interiors to travelling to see new ways of doing things. However, he says it’s really about creating your own unique style and doing things differently.

Appropriate to his preference for timeless, quality designs, Shane George likes working with natural materials.

“We use a lot of timber veneers with different treatments – I like that they’re often textural not just a flat finish anymore. I also like working with natural stones such as granite and marble.”

Shane George’s favourite part of the design process is working through and developing the initial ideas and concepts.

“When you can see the direction you're heading in, then you're getting excited about that space – how it's going to work and look. We love meeting and exceeding the homeowner’s expectations.”
