The new offices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), located, conceptualised and fitted out by Gaze Commercial, offer a flexible design and welcoming atmosphere

Part of MAF's brief to the interior designers was to create a fresh, functional feel for the offices. The furniture specifications, with an emphasis on environmentally responsible veneer surfaces, were central to achieving this.

Ferndale Furniture was asked to manufacture and install various office utility and cabinetry items for the offices, says manager Grant Macdonald.

"Items included glass screens, storage, staff kitchen cabinetry, wardrobes, bookcases, CEO furniture and cabinetry for the main kitchen," he says. "A sculpture taking centre stage within the main reception, Urban Tree, was also created by us."

Gaze's Flora Muriel-Nogoy says Ferndale also helped with material selection, such as pressed veneers, ensuring the high standard of detailing required was economically met.

In recent years Ferndale Furniture has invested in new technology and software to increase its overall output capacity.

"Our growth has meant we can undertake projects on the scale of the MAF fit-out with ease and to precise custom specifications," says Macdonald.
