Textured outlook
This home's contours are defined by contrasts in the cladding schist, cedar weatherboards and the smoothness of Rockcote Masonry Render System
The impact of a house comes in part from its design, but its exterior finishes and cladding materials also have a strong effect on its appearance. A smooth, clean-lined finish gives a contemporary, monolithic look, while a mix of materials and textures can create a more traditional flavour.
When Darren O'Neil of O'Neil Architecture designed this large home, he wanted to create a contemporary look, based on traditional forms. To achieve this, he chose a mix of finishes. The main part of the house is clad using Rockcote's Masonry Render System, which incorporates a Rockcote Classico pre-coloured texture finish. Rockcote registered plasterer Glen Munro of Properly Plastered applied this finish over a clay brick base.
Cedar weatherboards and schist stone detailing provide a contrast. O'Neil says he selected the Rockcote system because it provided a visual relief to the strong textures of cedar and schist.
Rockcote is a complete exterior plaster cladding solution that is applied by qualified, registered plasterers. It is covered by Rockcote Systems' 15-year performance guarantee and five-year workmanship guarantee.
