Studio Del Castillo wins 2022 TIDA Australia Designer Kitchen of the Year

Strong family bonds and the importance of entertaining were catalysts for many of the design decisions taken to deliver this striking new kitchen.

With three teenage children in the family, the kitchen space would be used at various times of the day and night and needed to suit the ever-changing schedules of young adolescents.

A separate concealed butler's pantry is used for food prep and everyday cooking, and in the main kitchen, retractable pocket doors, sliding doors and deep wide drawers mean any working mess, appliances and everyday activities can be quickly hidden away.

The unique design of the stone island provides a place for casual gatherings, while the 10-seater oval table is used for larger family meals or when entertaining.

The TIDA judges noted how the overall effect was streamlined without being minimal, using high quality materials and careful detailing that extends from the kitchen through to the adjacent living spaces.
