Of the many factors that influence the choice of building materials for a house, style is one of the most crucial. The cladding for a traditional home, for example, will require a different profile from that used for a more modern architectural design.

The owners of the house featured on this page builder Paul Duffett and his wife Kerene wanted their new home to reflect the essence of old English charm. After looking at different options, the couple say they were impressed with the solid feel and smart look of Palliside.

"We also appreciated the fact that the product required very little maintenance," they say.

To enhance the traditional look of the house, timber-boxed corners, window facings and sills were added. While these features will require some painting in the future, the couple say they are pleased at how they have been able to tailor the cladding to suit their chosen style.

"Palliside also had many advantages from a builder's viewpoint," says Paul Duffett. "It was quick to install, lightweight and easy to work with. And, as it was pre-finished, I was able to complete the installation myself."
