Showering options were never so varied as with the plethora of spray choices in this contemporary, luxuriously functional bathroom

Design brief:

  • Third bathroom in the house only to be used occasionally to service two guests bedrooms so practicality wasn’t a priority
  • A key requirement was to give guests a luxurious and over the top experience when having a shower.

What we achieved:

  • The freestanding stone basin was selected as a unique sculptural component. A narrow 15 degree downlight / spotlight was used to illuminate the basin as if it was in an art gallery.
  • 6 small 20mm lights were added in the shower’s tiled ceiling and recessed shelf creating soft feature lighting and a unique showering experience.
  • The shower was set up so any 3 shower heads or body jets could be going at the same time with commercial size copper water pipes used.
    • Top mixer controls –  large 400mm ceiling mounted rain shower or 6 body jets.
    • Middle mixer controls –  wall mounted waterfall shower or 3 body jets (left).
    • Bottom mixer controls –  slide shower or 3 body jets (right).
  • Tile insert channel drain was custom made the width of the shower & powder coated to match tiles.

  • Shower ceiling tiled to help define and contrast shower space.
  • Bathroom door built 2235mm high, to be same height as exterior bedroom doors. Shower glass height to line up with door architraves.
  • The “TECElux mini” toilet control was imported from Germany for the project. The glass panel illuminates when you’re within 1 meter and actions the flush when you place your hand near the glass screen.
  • Powerful extractor rated at 900 m³/hr. All fan noise was eliminated by two silencers in ceiling. Plastered in ceiling grille used on ceiling creating negative detail.
  • Window built the exact size to accommodate tile modules (6 tiles high + 2 tile thickness + adhesive) with no cut tiles.
