Italian and New Zealand signature pieces contribute to the elegant, relaxed ambience Interior design by Johnston Architects and Bespoke Interior DesignFrom the architects:Tucked into a Sumner hillside this serene, private family home was designed to maximise the site’s sunny North-West orientation and to capture the expansive views over Sumner Beach and Pegasus Bay to the Kaikoura Mountains beyond. The plan has been kept one room deep, providing each space with unique views and daylight, while a southern spine of circulation, stairs and gallery are dramatically lit by a vast glazed skylight. The architectural features and sophisticated interior palette blend seamlessly creating a rich, luxurious and timeless design.Stone, timber and mild steel are some of the materials used in this project, complemented by a subtle palette of oyster whites, black stained oak cabinetry and Italian mosaic tiles. We were careful in the selection of finishes, fixtures and materials to maintain a consistency between the exterior and interior. We repeated these exclusive finishes throughout, keeping the palette minimal and raw.A well thought out selection of furniture, lighting and art was an important factor in complementing the hard fit-out finishes and fixtures.A combination of Italian signature pieces and custom designed, New Zealand made sofas, tables and accessories, created composed, elegant living spaces.
