For departing international travellers, the airport terminal is the last place in the country where they can experience New Zealand culture and hospitality. For this reason, the design brief for the food court specified an Auckland-New Zealand theme.Jo Pennycuick, design director of Redesign Interior Architecture, says the company was contracted to fulfil this design brief for HMSC-AIAL, one of the major food operators at the Auckland International Airport. "At the same time, we needed to accommodate corporate branding for Cafe Espresso, Burger King and Blue Bar the three sites in the food court."Pennycuick says achieving a contemporary look was a priority for each fit-out.
