In this new location, we were able to utilise space that had previously been used as an office to create a new scullery for the new relocated kitchen where the existing kitchen had had no such facility.Moving the kitchen to this side of the home also maximised solar penetration into the new, relocated hub of the home throughout the day. One feature of the new kitchen is that it is designed to allows the hob area to be open and on show or closed away behind large panelled doors. When closed the recessed cooking zone has the look of a panelled wall which mimics the television unit on an adjacent wall. The hob area’s dark blue grey cabinetry and marble surround means this discreet cooking zone becomes a contrasting feature when open. The scullery and laundry are also made in this deep toned colour but these revamped spaces are hidden from view behind a wall.In addition, opposite the kitchen, we added a bar area and a long seating area with soft upholstery in a deep velvet feel material that tones in with the marble and dark cabinetry. A custom brass feature bar leaner with tapered leg located on the end of the large marble block island adds elegance and a touch of warmth.Custom made handles and a pendant light in the same aged brass as the leaner represent a repeating feature throughout the house. With a refined and minimal look, this kitchen’s emphasis is on luxury finishes and a balance of classic and contemporary design elements. The kitchen blends easily into the wider interior while its array of features contribute to a functional yet uncluttered, elegant presence.
