The positioning of the freestanding bath near the traditional sliding timber windows brings in the wonderful play of natural light. This was paired with the unique sculptural charcoal Nero floor-mounted towel rails.Entering this dynamic space, it is softened it by stunning oval mirrors, mounted on the horizontal, large-format travertine tiles. At the same time, the long bespoke timber-framed vanity helps to enhance the bathroom’s overall sense of space. We have also softened the space by having subtle lighting washing down the long tiled walk-in shower and we applied a similar treatment above the bath with light washing down the travertine tiled wall. The spacious, tiled shower with a dramatically long recessed tiled shelf over the sloping Nero marble porcelain floor makes for a wonderful spa-like ambience. We created depth and intrigue through the choice of a charcoal black porcelain tile. A beautiful movement and depth is achieved through the charcoal, white and copper tones in the tiles.A close collaboration with the builder ensured the shower construction was finalised right from the outset. This included the early positioning of the shower fittings and wall-mounted taps. The intension of the design was to be visually minimalistic yet highly functional.Materials and finishes were all deftly chosen to bring old and new together and enhance the share beauty and elegance of the space.Essentially, we wanted to bring a warmth to the design through the colour palette and character of the natural stone and finishes. The resulting ensuite is a place of relaxation and retreat.
