Halo Design Interiors was commissioned to undertake the interior design for a Grade II listed renovation in the heart of Belgravia, London.
This encompassed specification of interior architecture, as well as fitted joinery, bathrooms, architectural elements, loose furniture, feature lighting and soft furnishings.
The end result was a home tailor made for the owners and their young children, working within the historic framework of the building and giving it a timeless and practical reincarnated soul.
Design process/ challenges
The first challenge was to take the existing layouts of the building and work them into an arrangement which would work for our homeowners, and modern-day living.
The master suite was created from what was previously a kitchen and dining room.
The ceilings were opened up to reveal historic cornicing which was carefully restored and given a bespoke bronze/gold finish, which was lit up by hidden LED lights recessed into the top of panelling detailing.
This effect ran as a language throughout the ground floor – giving the new space a sense of continuity and timelessness.
The four metre ceilings with the up lit historic cornicing provided a majestic backdrop for a classical contemporary bathroom, grounded by a Blue Palissandro stone feature wall, drawing the eye in through mirrored doors from the bedroom.
Panelling hid additional storage, seamlessly blended to give a calm aura to the space, with an extra large composite bath and a delicate porcelain flower droplet chandelier above.
The palette was kept light and airy, as per the client brief, with the stone flooring blending with the colour of the panelled walls and delicately curved vanity unit.
What initially appeared to be challenges in the design process were what gave this bathroom it’s truly unique presence, creating a one-of-a-kind space for our delighted clients to retreat to at the end of a long day
