Penthouse attracts high-end kitchen

This design had to look and feel luxurious – right from the visual impact, layout and surfaces to the fine detailing and craftsmanship of the installation

From the design team:

Owner requirements

A luxurious kitchen for a prestigious new build, high level finish penthouse.

Arclinea was chosen as the premium supplier for this project.

The kitchen was to be the showstopper – an entertainer’s dream, displaying the highest quality finishes along with sophisticated lines and integration wherever possible.

The design had to look authentic and high quality, right from the visual impact, layout and surfaces through to the precision detailing and craftsmanship of the installation.

High level finishes were requested from the Arclinea veneer range – the American Walnut was the best fit for the natural wood feel, resulting in fine detailing that is natural, neutral and timeless.

Ample storage was to extend across the entire back wall, with a wraparound corner and matching storage cabinetry to be added into the living space to create a consistent finish throughout the apartment.

A spacious scullery with additional storage and bench space was specified.

A minimal, sophisticated line was requested with full height cabinetry and integrated appliances but leaving the elegant 400 Gaggenau oven series on display.

Specific challenges and how these were overcome

This was a large, lineal space within a wide floor plan and an awkward building riser was situated within the line of cabinetry.

This was overcome by extending the line of cabinetry across the entire wall – this concealed the awkward riser and allowed for additional storage to be integrated as well as elongating the kitchen’s scale.

Floor to ceiling cabinetry also makes the kitchen feel more vertical and draws the eye upward and inward to the island and focal point of the space.

Due to the volume of the timber cabinetry, an additional feature was required to soften the timber to create contrast and variety.

The was overcome with the use of glass on the perpendicular side.

The glass feature offers a complementary edged surface with reflectiveness that changes with light and also provides a hard/soft contrast to the wood.

The glass detailing on the cabinetry was also continued on the upper portion of the main back wall to help anchor the island in the foreground as well as connecting visually to the larger glass units on the perpendicular wall.

The inclusion of feature products that play a significant role in the design

The elegant 400 Gagganau oven series offers a level of appliance luxury and quality fit for an Arclinea kitchen.
