Oasis retreat
Boasting a generous outlook, this master suite is all about connecting to nature – wood and slate tones in the bathroom and dressing space play their part
Designed by Kate Mcmahon, Mcmahon and Merlich
From the suite designer:
Connection to landscape is the defining feature of this home, a modest renovation with new upper-level retreat, located on an inner-city site in St Kilda West.
The main bedroom suite is designed to make the most of its generous outlook, with three sets of double doors connecting to a Juliette-balcony off the main bedroom which overlooks the leafy street, and a wide doorway looking through the small living area out to a deck with views to Albert Park Reserve.

The suite is designed with colours of granite and layered greens, to draw the landscape in and create an oasis-like feel, reminiscent of a ‘big sky’ landscape.
The timber-framed custom mirror with drop-down panel, timber vanity with vessel basin and shower alcove with beautiful light coming from obscure glazing create a resort-like feel.
The joinery in the walk-in-robe picks up on the timber theme, with the special pull-out mirror and custom skylight providing ambience and light.
The main bedroom view is stunning, and the deep green carpet with sage-green velvet bedhead and oak joinery completes the oasis retreat.
