For many of us the biggest financial investment we'll make in our lives is our home. It comes as no surprise therefore that we can agonise over the decision to renovate or relocate especially if we're in a neighbourhood we like when that home no longer meets all our needs. The team of designers at Yellowfox are experts in helping homeowners see the potential in their existing house and then making that unrealised promise a reality, says kitchen designer Vikki Gorton."From a single room remodel through to a full-house renovation, our expertise lies in assisting clients to maximise their lifestyle through better design."Our emphasis on building strong associations with respected companies in the industry, such as Waller Projects the project managers for this job means if there is anything Yellowfox can't provide, we're able to refer clients to other industry professionals."Gorton teamed with Yellowfox interior designer Teri Donnelly to provide a full interior scheme, while Darren McKenzie of Paysage Landscapes was commissioned to redesign the garden areas. Child's room with white walls and colourful duvet. "The intention was to imbue the home with a contemporary proficiency, but without losing any of the existing warmth and character," says Gorton."For the exterior an appealing neutral, Resene Triple Akaroa, was chosen. This was complemented with Resene Titania for the joinery. Shingled accents add a further dimension to the overall impression."Similar shades and textures have been incorporated into the kitchen, with the designer choosing a Beige Capri quartz benchtop for the island from Tile Warehouse, installed by Architectural Stone."For the upper cabinetry I chose a Bestwood American oak veneer. This harmonises with the beautiful timber floors, but also references the shingled accents on the facade."Lacquered lower cabinets and a back-painted splashback from DecoGlaze contrast the timber and add lightness to the space. Resene Albescent White on the living room walls produces a crisp look. View of exterior with cream cladding. Soft furnishings add a punch of colour, and designer Lisa Marcellus of The Designers Library completed the window treatments throughout the house."One of the biggest benefits in carrying out a renovation project is the opportunity to personalise, particularly in areas such as bedrooms," says Donnelly."In the daughter's room, the same neutral palette has been augmented by touches of pink. Accent colours are great for adding an individual touch, and are easily updated as the child ages."Yellowfox specialises in providing design services for all types of residential projects, along with interior and exterior colour schemes. For more details, contact Yellowfox Auckland or Yellowfox Waiheke, 49 Main Highway, Ellerslie, Auckland 1051, phone (09) 525 3450, fax (09) 525 3454.
