Marvellous in marble
A gleaming 5.6m-long marble island – a significant architectural feat in its own right – stands as the centrepiece of this attractive-meets-practical family kitchen
Designed by Anthony Chan, Chan Architecture
From the architect:
This contemporary kitchen seamlessly integrating luxury materials with functional elegance.
Anchored by a 5.6m-long Calacatta marble island bench, the space serves as both a culinary workspace and a social hub.
Custom solid timber joinery introduces warmth and texture, complementing the wider home’s mid-century bluestone walls.
A double-height void above the kitchen floods the area with natural light, enhancing the sense of openness and reinforcing the connection between levels.
Materiality plays a pivotal role in this design, with natural marble, solid timber, and subtly textured stone tiles working harmoniously to create a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.
The precision in detailing – from the seamless cabinetry to the sculptural pendant lighting – underscores the kitchen’s balance of form and function.
Every element has been curated to respect the home’s architectural heritage while providing a highly practical, modern family space.
