Manhattan office reflects refined fit-out

Looking as much like a plush hotel as offices for a design-focussed real estate firm, this quietly strategic fit-out offers diverse business functionality

Interior fit-out by Andrew Wilkinson Architect

This office renovation is the result of an intense architectural and interior design collaboration between owner and designer.

The owner – a founding principal of the firm – had a clear vision about how he wanted the space to feel, and also function.

Together, both owner and designer worked to search for a design solution that responded to planning demands, while also achieving the atmosphere that reflected the ambitions of a design driven real estate development enterprise.

Part of the design effort included the creation of an inviting common area, together with individual offices that offer the opportunity to retreat for privacy.

The common areas were designed to accommodate several types of gathering spaces: an informal lounge area, bar height counters, a larger table height seating and a kitchen counter bar.

These spaces were conceived to encourage a sense of community and also inspire social and professional interaction between departments.

The materials and colour palette become more rich and moody in the conference room with dark fabric acoustic panels integrated with walnut panelling, while in the restroom the finishes take on a boutique hotel vibe with rich colours and textures.
