The owner's brief was to create a Zen like space that was peaceful, tranquil and transitioned effortlessly from the primary bedroom.

The design was inspired by a modern Japanese aesthetic by using natural hand finished materials, layering ceramics, stone, and wood.

This space is dedicated to soaking, unwinding and reflecting amongst the rural surroundings of the landscape.

The continuity of the home was a key design element in making this space feel cohesive as it flowed from one space to the next.

American walnut cabinetry had been used in other areas of the home so bringing this into the ensuite and pairing it with the natural material palette added to the atmosphere and finishing of the space.

The selection of the natural silver travertine with hints of blue was the perfect pick with its soft, muted tones creating a natural base for the ensuite, being relaxing on the eye and luxurious under bare feet.

The rich American walnut adds depth and complements the honed travertine.

The main entry from the bedroom was widened

The simple detail of the cabinetry again makes an appearance, reflecting Japanese design.

Given the Japanese inspired brief, the hand finished finger tile was a natural pairing for the bathroom, playing on textures and light, and creates an attractive juxtaposition with the large format slabs.

The main entry from the bedroom was widened with the beautiful Shoji door to create an open transition from the bedroom and to further complement the Japanese inspiration that the homeowner requested.
