This high-ceilinged kitchen looks out on dining, living, a central courtyard and side garden – and occupants of these spaces enjoy looking back

Designed by Trevor Saleeba, Saleeba Adams Architects

From the architects:

The fundamental concept for this kitchen is as the centrepiece of the house for an effervescent owner and seriously good cook.

The well equipped working kitchen is completely open to the formal dining and living spaces as well as commanding an outlook to the glass roofed outdoor courtyard which forms the central outdoor living space for the home.

As such, the owner has full command and enjoyment of the house and is never locked away from things.

There is an adjoining working scullery at one end of the extended galley kitchen for messier tasks while at the other end the kitchen opens to an intimate, light-filled, casual breakfast space which enjoys delightful views to an adjoining landscaped courtyard space which also houses a herb garden.

The kitchen also has a sense of drama from the raised ceiling profile which bathes the space in natural light from angled roof lights – while not being visible from nor interfering with the dining ambience.

The island bar with stools is the natural meeting place for friends and family where all can enjoy the outlooks.

The kitchen is equipped with Wolf and SubZero appliances.
