I'll take Manhattan

High above lower Manhattan, this urban eyrie balances city outlooks with soft, curvaceous interior forms – including key custom elements – for a refined ambience

Designed by Jessica Gersten Interiors

From the interior designer:

A modern tree house created for a family of four.

Designer Jessica Gersten first met the owners when she designed their home on the Upper East Side eight years ago.

Gersten was thrilled to help them create their new dream home downtown.

In the foyer a gouged wood credenza is a grounding point with Erin Schirreff art hanging above and ceramic sconces from The Invisible Collection.

The open living/dining space has two incredible views facing north and west.

The living room niche in parchment was inspired by the de Noailles residence in Paris, designed by Jean-Michel Frank in 1925.

The curved sofa contours around coffee tables custom created by Jessica Gersten, also inspired by the work of Jean Michel-Frank.

Contemporary side chairs and tables along with a Noguchi lantern complete the seating area.

A Ludovic Clement d’Armont mobile light hangs over the oak dining table, also designed by Gersten.

The contour theme continues with the 'wing' dining chairs from Studio Twenty-Seven.

Also inspired by Jean Michel-Frank’s unconventional use of common materials, Gersten designed a sculptural plaster bar which separates the kitchen and dining room.

The oak and parchment materiality of the living room is carried into the office with millwork and a console table, custom made with a rug by Alt for Living.

The art above the console is by Wura-Natasha Ogunji.

The master bedroom has an ethereal feeling.

A headboard wall was another custom element by the designer, produced using Toyine Sellers fabric and pale oak panelling.

The Webcoat table lamp is by Steven Haulenbeek and rests on a custom credenza also created by Gersten

Art pieces on the opposite wall are by Estuko Ichikawa, curated with the help of Hourglass Advisory.

In the two children’s bedrooms there are additional custom touches in the cosy bed designs.
