From the designer:

'Bring the outside in', was the interior architecture design brief for this new home, nestled lakeside and flanked by schist rock and epic mountains.

Inspired by the drama of this natural landscape, we have designed a powder room that exudes both richness and warmth, with opulent, earthy colours.

It’s a space created with luxury and pampering in mind.

Centre stage is a freestanding, floor mounted, round concrete black basin with a brass tap, mixer and hidden towel hook.

The powder room contrasts well with the sand grey oak timber floors that flow through the main living and dining areas and adjoining hallways.

A bevelled edged, softly curved and floating, vertical mirror draws you in and reflects the picturesque surrounding landscape and adjoining rooms.

Adding intrigue to the natural stone walls is the light cast from handblown, brass detailed opal glass lights that turn on via a hidden sensor.

Another feature is tactile, unfilled travertine grey tiles themselves.

Stepping into this powder room brings a sense of serenity – though completing the project was not without its challenges.

The owner specified it should stand-alone in its beauty but also connect with the design features of the kitchen, dining and living areas.

We achieved this with discrete, bespoke, vertical slatted wall panelling and a hidden door to mesh the spaces together.

When the slatted door is closed, there is no sign of a powder room.

Part of the brief was also to offer a hidden wow factor, so when one steps inside the space, sensors bring the lighting alive.

Working with the delicate medium of unfilled travertine was another design curveball we attained with the labour of love – as it is a very brittle tile to work with.

Clever artisan tile installation, achieved by close collaboration with the designer; savvy black slatted door joinery; and a close attention to detail all shine through in this luxurious powder room.
