Hanging out for natural light
When space is limited but you want light-filled interiors, one design approach is to literally go through the roof.
This clean-lined kitchen, forms part of a whole-house design by Jason Saunders of Arc Seven 1.
Faced with limited solar penetration, Saunders cantilevered the first floor right to the boundary, introducing a cut-out in the cantilever and a roof window so the kitchen is flooded with natural light from above.
