The setting

The main design requirement of this home was for a large, open residence that is functional and inviting – designed to be an entertainer’s dream. 

Truly nature driven, the design for the bespoke home drew inspiration from the nearby gentle waves of Lake Wanaka. 

The resulting architectural home features a curved facade that artistically flows from the exterior through into the interior culminating in the slight curvature of the kitchen's breakfast bar.

The kitchen

The kitchen was to be a crucial focus within the home as it was to be a hub for entertaining. 

In response, we designed an open-plan kitchen with bold features and a unique design, that seamlessly flows to its adjoining living room, expansive balcony, and media room – creating an inviting space ideal for hosting. 

We incorporated intelligent storage solutions and ample bench space, creating a warm, inviting space to enjoy a morning coffee. 

A generous walk-in scullery with a refined, modern look was tucked in behind the kitchen.

The copper and grey scullery features elevated cove lighting contributing to a relaxed atmosphere with a hint of luxe.

Heritage and culture

Heritage and culture influenced the individual kitchen's design and colour scheme. 

Our homeowners are of Indian heritage and were intrigued with bringing subtle elements of their culture into their home. 

Addressing this, we designed an alpine-inspired kitchen with a subtle ode to the owners' culture through our bold colour scheme, including a bold marble breakfast bar, with gold, copper, and grey veins. 

Matte black, soft-touch cabinetry complements the golden splashback, creating a refined, modern aesthetic.
