The main challenge in designing this kitchen was ensuring that it felt seamlessly integrated with the adjacent open-plan dining and living room, without appearing overly utilitarian.

To overcome this challenge, we used a consistent material palette of dark timber veneers, natural marble, and black shadowlines in all three areas, with joinery and floor finishes continuing throughout to create a sense of continuity and blend the boundaries between spaces.

We included an oversized butler's pantry in the layout to keep small appliances, dirty dishes, and food storage hidden from view when entertaining guests.

The most striking feature of the kitchen is the exceptionally deep island bench, cantilevered on one side, which creates a social hub for the household by encouraging family and friends to gather around it.
