The HVAC system put together and installed for the university is a mix of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning and mechanically operated natural ventilation, providing the flexibility, comfort and energy efficiency required. The HVAC is controlled by an advanced building management system (BMS) which also provides remote access and control, and is linked to energy metering, hydraulics, electrical and security systems.
Jacobs says the system design was simple yet functional, resulting in excellent energy solutions.
