The owners of this seaside courtyard home have a strong love of wood, reflected in the cladding, interior structural elements, floor, wall and ceiling finishes and also in the bespoke kitchen, bedroom and bathroom joinery. 

The award-winning home's joinery was crafted and precision-fitted by woodworking specialists RH Cabinetmakers, so if everything looks like it is snugly fitting down to the last millimetre, that's because it is.

Working to plans by Scarlett Architects and liaising with both architect and homeowners, RH Cabinetmakers has created these strong, solid elements using real carpentry woodworking techniques – so these pieces are as attractive and enduring as they are a perfect fit for the allotted spaces.

At the hub of the home and beside the central sheltered courtyard, the custom fitted kitchen was crafted following the architect's drawings and installed by RH Cabinetmakers. 

Both the island with open end shelving and the perimeter cabinetry are constructed in a Birch Select Plywood. For a two-tone effect on the perimeter cabinetry, the natural-look plywood is combined with a Polaris high pressure laminate in Black Super Matt (also over birch plywood) on some cabinet faces – including the cooktop zone and some cabinetry interiors. The plywood was supplied by Plytech.

Continuing the kitchen's contemporary two-tone effect, a Neolith Nero 10mm-thick black porcelain benchtop features on the island, while the rear worktop has a durable Satin-brushed stainless steel benchtop. 

The high-quality plywood cabinetry is underpinned by Blum fittings – Legrabox smooth-gliding drawer systems and Aventos lift-up mechanisms. Push-to-open functionality also features on the almost invisible cabinetry doors on the front of the island – these discreet cabinets are ideally positioned for holding dinnerware and other elements for dining or entertaining.

Across the room, in matching materials, there is a custom computer workstation – also constructed and installed by RH Cabinetmakers – which is ideal for parent hot desking or children's homework.

In the main bathroom, the vanity cabinetry was also completed following Scarlet Architects' drawings, with the finer design points, construction and installation all by RH Cabinetmakers. 

The vanity is in the same Birth Select Plywood as the kitchen cabinetry, as is most of the joinery in the home.

This room length unit has a crisp white Niano Glass white polished composite stone benchtop and includes a towel rail conveniently tucked in under the clean-look benchtop. 

The experienced woodworking company also installed the wall-set towel rails on the other side of the room.

The ensuite bathroom and a bedroom kitchenette, also crafted by RH Cabinetmakers, boast the same fine cabinetry and benchtop finishes.

The children's bunk room also features finely finished joinery of RH Cabinetmakers. 

Again working to the architects' plans, RH Cabinetmakers finessed the design, creating a precision-fitted four bunk unit complete with protective upper boards to prevent any late night misadventures and a built in bedhead/bookshelf completing each bunk bed. The bunks are in Birch Select Plywood with the ladder constructed in pine.

The company also created the other wardrobes in the home in the same appealing Birch finish.
