Farmer's pride
Based on a traditional Otago farmhouse, the rugged good looks of this home belie its European-inspired interior
When a weathered, up-country look is sought for a new home, using a high-quality replica stone cladding makes economic and aesthetic sense.
Rutherford Homes chose Stutex Stone to supply cladding for this farmhouse, which replicates the tones and texture of Central Otago schist.
A Stutex Stone design blend of ES60 and LS60 from the Cerastone range was selected. The former is a chunky edgestone that provides weight and solidity, and the latter is a finer ledgestone with a horizontal cut to give the exterior walls a neat, linear profile while not detracting from the rustic look.
Both stone types are predominantly dark grey with a hint of rust, which brings out the natural tones of the dark wood and complements the neutral colouring of the plasterwork.
Stutex Stone director Lorraine Goudie says the cladding looks like real stone even at close range.
Stutex Stone supplies over 20 different stone textured profiles from two ranges Cerastone and Cultured Stone many of which can be blended providing an even greater choice of looks.
