Custom-made cabinetry facilitates connections in this modern kitchen

Material connections contribute to this home's flowing aesthetic and finely crafted custom cabinetry solutions by RH Cabinetmakers played an important part in the design impact

The black exterior of the home – seen
The black exterior of the home – seen here on the outdoor room – is continued on the kitchen's rear cabinetry, the granite benchtops, detailing and even the island sink.

Custom cabinetry is a highly practical inclusion in any kitchen design but it also has dramatic visual impact, as seen in this well-connected design by architect Eva Nash of Rogan Nash Architects for her own family.

The home has exceptional flow, both architecturally and in terms of materials and the kitchen cabinetry is an important part of this.

The exterior palette continues through to the interior, with a black entry and black design elements, such as the kitchen's rear black Melteca cabinetry, the handles and hinges, and also the kitchen tap and sink.

Even the breakfast stools are black.

Providing a natural, almost rustic contrast, the tall storage cabinetry to the side of the kitchen and the island are both finished in American walnut timber veneer.

The tall bank of cabinetry is set alongside a feature sliding barn door. The kitchen's upper cabinets are clad in tinted mirror, which brings in light and adds visual interest.

The benches are in a leathered, white veined black granite.

Almost all the cabinetry solutions in this kitchen and the rest of the home were created by RH Cabinetmakers.
