Creating interest in a limited space
Not all powder room opportunities come with a large floor plan – see how this designer achieved design impact in a relatively tight space

From the designer:
The setting
For this powder room, working with a long, narrow room made it a challenge to create an interesting space within the luxury apartment.
There was no choice but to have the toilet facing the door and there also wasn’t enough width for a vanity.

The solution
I slightly recess a space (1300mmW X 60mmD) on one side of the room to house the pedestal basin.
For further interest, the boldly veined large (1200 X 600mm) floor and wall tiles were laid randomly.
Juxtaposing the tiny mosaic tiles in the rear of the recess with the addition of the backlit pedestal and oval mirror added an interesting dimension to the conventionally shaped space.
