Contemporary mood with a classic accent

This modern bathroom complements its 1920s cottage environment – copper tapware and classic floor tiles help bridge the time divide

From the bathroom renovation designer:

A spacious shower with his and hers shower heads in area previously occupied by the bath
A full width recessed shelf within the shower complete with LED lights
Two 15 degree ceiling lights highlighting the shower tiles
Frameless shower glass height the same as the window architrave
Old windows removed and a large new window installed with the same width as bath

Window location set as high as possible to portrait native trees, but kept just narrow enough to avoid seeing top of white fence (window was built on site).
Double-glazed window panel with one way mirror (rather than obscure glass) to utilise view (blinds yet to be installed).
Freestanding bath placed in the old shower location at the bathroom entrance with 40 degree soft feature lights to highlight it
Under-tile heating in W/C & bathroom
Ceiling Bluetooth speaker in centre of bathroom
Channel drain powder coated to match tiles
Copper tapware and floor tiles used to give bathroom an aged feeling and help connect it with the rest of the house
Remaining wall tiles kept white to give tapware and feature tiles more impact & also keep cost down

Old galvanised water pipes were full of rust / grit and restricting water flow down to a trickle. Replacement pipes were installed with a 20mm diameter from the mains all the way to the HWC and shower mixers to maximise flow. A new mains cylinder was installed to increase hot pressure.
The old framing was built from 500mm off cuts of timber that has been poorly nailed together. The majority of timber on the two external walls required replacement.
