Facebook Tweet Help Stories Renovation Australia TIDA Homes Congratulations Urbane Projects Share Tweet Help Winners – 2019 TIDA Australia Designer Renovation An original Bernard Seeber design built in 1988 by Kerman contracting, a home that had great spaces and was built with quality in mind was something that we could ignore when reviewing the idea of a new home on this jacaranda lined street in Applecross.The home remains a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom home, the original spaces flowed had a great sense of light and good connection to the quarter acre site with amazing gardens.The renovation incorporated the addition of a 4 car garage in lieu of the double carport, anextension to the dining room which helped cater for the increased kitchen area and included the extension of the roof line to incorporate an outdoor alfresco, and a total transformation to the rear garage.The philosophy of this renovation was to work with the current floor plan and carryout minor structural changes to reconfigure spaces, take advantage of the natural light the home enjoyed and bring the home up to meet todays requests of garaging, outdoor entertaining, in addition cater for two teenage boys that enjoy having their mates around. The carport was removed and, in its place, a 4 car garage was created this in turn provided an opportunity to address the entry zone creating a high ceiling with high lite windows facing north encouraging more natural light to enter the home. The master suite at the front of the home was reconfigured and walk-in-robe enlarged. The formal family zone was transformed into a peaceful library / home office zone, a place to sit relax read or entertain. Walking through the home all surfaces where upgraded with new ceilings, doors, frames, lights flooring, tiling and cabinets. A large part of the renovation was the kitchen, the clients wishing for a modern, large kitchen with ample refrigeration and a scullery. Redesigning the powder room, home office zone provided the space to incorporate a modern scullery to the kitchen, the orientation was turned by 90 degrees providing visual outlook to the rear yard and new pool beyond. A large 4500 x 1500 kitchen island with the clients favourite stone Statuario Venato book matched to cover the large surface. The new alfresco zone incorporates built in island BBQ pizza oven and an amazing exterior fire place, this fire box was removed from the original formal living zone and repurposed.Another large addition to the original space was the exterior garage, this zone was extended in size, the original external bathroom was brought inside and upgraded and on the top of this a light weight second storey was introduced and cladded with Blackbut. The ground floor is designed for casual entertaining with the area incorporating a fully operational kitchen, TV lounge and pool table. The upper floor a studio 40 m² zone to relax and create. The structure was designed with the idea that in years to come it is self-contained and could be a living quarter for a family member.The blackbutt cladding became an integral part of the building fabric, on approaching the revived property the garage door and entry statement are in Blackbutt, the entry wraps around and travels internal to create a sense of direction into the home.
