Character tiles complete stylish rural home

The owners of this house introduced high quality tiles and other products throughout their home. They even took on specialist skills to allow them to install much of the product themselves.

“We tiled every inch of it ourselves, I even got my waterproofing certificate so we could do that too and we also installed the underfloor heating,” says one owner. “Plus, my husband made the scullery and laundry benches, the wooden benches in the kitchen, and the shelf and floating shelf in the powder room.”

The entire ground floor is tiled with porcelain tiles. These are perfect when living on a rural property which is all about indoor-outdoor flow.

“The Habita Castagna woodgrain porcelain tiles are easy to clean and hardwearing, the latter attribute was pretty important with dogs, kids and a fireman all in the mix!”

Porcelain tile flooring has many advantages over natural and engineered wood floors and laminates. It effectively can’t be scratched, won’t sun fade or warp and can’t be damaged by water. Plus, porcelain tile floors are compatible with underfloor heating and offer great thermal mass for passive solar heating.
