By the sea
For this coastal kitchen, warm oak cabinetry combines with a veined stone island benchtop and splashback – both wood and stone echo the home's exterior and are in keeping with the seaside location

From the architect:
The setting
This coastal home is a crafted response to its environment, featuring a refined interplay between horizontal and vertical site planes.
Clean lines and dynamic forms create visual interest, while the natural muted tones allow the design to respond to its surroundings.
Designed to balance privacy and openness, the ground floor serves as a dynamic entertainment hub.
An open-plan design merges the living, dining, and kitchen areas, encouraging movement and interaction.
Large openings invite natural light to flood the space, strengthening the home’s connection to its coastal surroundings.
The kitchen
At the heart of this space, the kitchen is designed to feel both inviting and practical, with natural materials and refined detailing enhancing its warmth and character.
The design reflects the owner’s vision for a light-filled kitchen with clean lines that feels both contemporary and welcoming.
A neutral palette creates an airy aesthetic, while thoughtful detailing ensures both function and visual appeal.
A striking waterfall-edge island in Neolith stone adds a sense of understated luxury, its soft veining subtly reflecting the coastal landscape.
The same stone extends into the splashback, offering durability and a seamless, refined look.
Warm oak cabinetry softens the tones of the stone, adding warmth and texture.
Indoor connects with outdoor
The combination of timber and stone mirrors the home’s exterior finishes, creating a cohesive indoor-outdoor connection.
Functionality is considered in every detail.
Blum soft-close hardware ensures smooth use, while Laminex Acrylic Panels add depth and a modern finish.
Fisher & Paykel appliances were selected for their performance and reliability while integrated storage keeps the space organised.
The Blum Space Tower maximises pantry storage, while the scullery houses appliances and extra workspace.
Overhead cabinetry and concealed storage solutions ensure everyday essentials remain within reach without compromising the clean, streamlined aesthetic.
Heart of the home
This kitchen is more than just a place for cooking – it’s the heart of the home, where daily moments unfold.
