The garage occupied a large portion of area at the rear, thus underutilising the outdoor space. Plus, the interior felt dark and small even though it was north facing. Our design intent was to create an open yet connected, light space for the family to grow and enjoy together Rich tradition seamlessly intertwined with sleek contemporary elementsThe foundation of this concept lies in preserving the essence of tradition. Intricate mouldings and ornate woodwork serve as anchors, grounding the streetscape. Clean lines and a minimalist décor add a layer of sophistication, breathing new life into the old – the past and present harmonising effortlessly. As you step onto the traditional character porch entering into the hallway, you are gently welcomed through to the heart of the home – where the space transforms before your eyes. Modern, open living areaThe traditional gives way to the contemporary as you enter the modern open living area. Here, the clean lines, expansive windows, and high ceilings create a refined atmosphere. The large, northern glazing frames the views of the lush backyard beyond and floods the space with natural light. The vaulted ceilings create a sense of airiness, expanding the perceived dimensions. Sunlight filters through the vaulted wings, casting a warm and inviting glow down through the space below. The wrapping louvre roof hovers gracefully between the large glazing elements – its sleek lines mirroring the elegance of the interior. Cosy, intimate spaces beckon conversation out on the deck. The fluid connection between the interior and exterior creates a transitional social space ideal for a vibrant, active family home. Buildology's ethosThe ethos of Buildology lies in collaboration – everyone working together to achieve a great result. The homeowner was excited about the project and was closely involved and present throughout the project. The builders were amazing, too, and kept an eye on everything working well behind the scenes while making sure the details and finishes were achieved.Find out more how Buildology can transform your classic home Credit list Renovating architectural designers Romé Smit and Kenneth Shum - Buildology Architectural Design Awards ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Award 2024 – Commended award, residential alterations and additions; ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Award 2024 - Commended award, home interiors Builders Colin Walsh and Steven Langerak, Structured Builders Photography Yulia Shadan Story by: Trendsideas 01 Sep, 2024 Renovation Buildology Architectural + Design Trendsideas Home kitchen bathroom commercial design Latest Post 'Something different' 15 Dec, 2024 Rounded perspective 15 Dec, 2024 Everyday opulence 15 Dec, 2024 We know the Specialists Related Book More Books > Trends 40-09 40-09 Read More Similar Stories
