From the designer:
Our homeowners wanted a bathroom space with a sense of modern Hamptons luxury and style.
Set in an architecturally designed classic pavilion style home, within a rural setting, they requested a sense of warmth and a boutique approach to this master ensuite, including a connection to the surrounding architecture.
Our design response was that we wanted to capture and complement the master bedroom wing with a sensual bathroom space with a modern Hamptons aesthetic.
It was important that the design have bespoke elements, luxurious finishes, and refined bathroom fitting and fixtures; together with a custom vanity design, walk-in shower, free standing bath and concealed toilet suite.

A clean space was created for the freestanding deep charcoal mineral stone bath, which is placed centre stage on entry, in front of the shutter clad windows – creating a sense of sophisticated style and accentuating the room's individual, luxurious aesthetic.
The feature bath is complemented by the overall palette of the room, formed from the movement and warmth of the natural honed travertine tile.
The refined tile is introduced to all walls and flooring, with a few one-off features to reinforce the boutique Hamptons approach.
Oversized blocks sourced from the same quarry as the tiles were hand crafted into a skirting tile and dado capping, evoking a sense of luxury and style.
A close attention to detail is seen in the skilled tile installation, which was carefully controlled throughout the building process through plans and on-site meetings.
To further enhance this tiling detail and approach, a bespoke lime-based plaster system was applied above the tile dado line, adding a soft texture and further sense of character to the room.
The palette is kept simple with the mix of finishes providing a warm ambience.
A careful play of form and finish can be seen in the dramatic vanity, clad with mid-stained, American white oak laminated solid timber fronts matched with a custom formed stone top and bowl rebated behind the timber façade.
The level of detail ensures the desired luxurious, bespoke feel for the vanity design, while again addressing the request for a modern Hamptons aesthetic.
The upmarket feel continues in the walk-in shower space with 3 shower elements: overhead, fixed shower head and a wand.
This combination provides the user with a flexible shower system and is a noteworthy feature of this space.
Opposite the shower zone, we chose to semi-enclose the w.c within walls clad in the natural travertine, providing privacy.
Lighting was kept simple and effective – the sconce lighting around the mirrors was chosen as a further nod to Hamptons-style design.
The recessed LED lighting in the shower soap and foot recesses add to the sense of drama with the showering experience.
The overall result is a bathroom with a distinctive sense of luxury and refinement – a space that our homeowners will cherish for years to come.
