Artful and bespoke

Differing yet complementary tile choices accented with oak create an individualistic, easy-on-the eye, storage-rich master ensuite

Designed by Peta Davy, Yellowfox

From the designer

With an empty nest and a newly built home in St Heliers, Auckland, our homeowners were ready to indulge in the next phase of their lives.

The couple has discerning taste and wanted something functional with enough creative punch to feel artful and bespoke – their appreciation for practicality went hand-in-hand with a love of design purity.

The resulting master ensuite features functional details including a built-in bin & laundry chute.

Storage was key in this area and was maximised with additional internal drawers as well as push-to-open mirror cabinets complete with power points to hide chargeable accessories.

Concrete look tiles create a semi-industrial feel and these are balanced with the soft, warm glow of oak accents.

The layout of this bathroom proved trick as with only one small window at the far end to emit natural light, good introduced lighting was essential.

As privacy was a vital part of our owners’ brief, we tucked the toilet in behind a solid shower wall.
