The brief
The existing St Heliers house had been home to its owners for many years – it was solid at its core and had served the family well.
However, the homeowners and their children live a very full and busy life and had outgrown the house.
There were many discussions around whether it would be best to renovate the existing home or start from scratch with a new design.
Eventually it was agreed that there was much life left in some aspects of the house and that renovating it would be the best choice.
The main focus was the family's busy, active lifestyle –l the children were constantly in and out for various sporting activities.
The owners wanted the renovated home to allow for an easy flow of people through the day, while creating a safe haven for everyone to come together in at the end of the day and relax in each other’s company.
The project
The new kitchen, living and outdoor area has an easy flow and is the main hub of the house.
The outdoor deck area is covered by a louvre roof which creates indoor-out door flow even in variable weather and provides a second living area for busy social occasions.
Plus the deck area connects the pool and landscape to the house.

Indoors, the bedrooms and bathrooms are elegantly finished with subtle tones and textures that help brighten up the rooms and make them feel more spacious. Plus, the windows have been made bigger to maximise the view.
The new exterior façade and landscape are designed to subtly update the character and feel of the building.
Lighter tones have been applied to the facade to make it feel less heavy and to act as a neutral canvas complementing the green landscape surrounding it.
The outcome
Overall, the energy and excitement of the owners throughout the process was catching.
Every aspect was thought through with the vision of their family and friends creating happy memories in these spaces for years to come.
