The owner required a dedicated designer with complementary design values to bring to life the vision for her home within a very tight timeframe. The home was to have all interior furniture/furnishings installed within five weeks of the settlement date. The briefThe brief for the interior was for a mixed design aesthetic combining touches of glamour with comfortable furnishings while incorporating the personality of the family. As avid entertainers, the home was to be practical for daily living and the demands of two sport-mad children while still reflecting a sophistication commensurate to the quality of the home and the homeowner herself. Stacey Gillies Interiors was engaged to provide interior decoration services including concept, sourcing and specification of all interior elements including furniture, soft furnishings, art, lighting and window treatments.Key to the project was the considered use of colour and fabric selections where these needed to be robust yet beautiful. We also looked to vintage furniture pieces to provide added individuality the home.InspirationStacey Gillies Interiors took cues from the homeowners' love of travel to Europe and art collection to bring together the colour story for each space. A priority area, the living and entertaining space combines green hues, mustards and neutral tones, complemented by brass accents, warm timbers and metallic finishes. Sheer linen drapery was added for depth and softness. The master bedroom offers a restful retreat with its luxurious fabrics of plush velvets and heavy linens while the guest bedroom is a calm and inviting space with beautiful Citta bedding. The home, with its vast windows and sunny aspect, required suitable window treatments and includes delicate sheer drapery and privacy roller blinds in the living space, providing an elegant feel, while the bedrooms are a mix of roman blinds and full-length drapery in stunning luxe linens in earthy and nude tones from Mokum.Challenges and how they were overcomeThe timelines for the project were very tight with the family moving into the home five weeks from when the creative brief was given. The biggest challenge with this project was that it commenced right after NZs first lockdown which resulted in severe delays and limited availability of décor and furniture. This was overcome by looking to new suppliers that had stock available immediately while still meeting the design aesthetic, budget and timeline. In summary, the project was a successful outcome with owner and designer being a great match through their appreciation for colour, artwork and accents of vintage to provide the resulting individual, personalised interior.
