Architect: Daniel Marshall, Daniel Marshall Architects

The design concept for this elegant suite was to create a layered space with a vanity that looked like it was carved out of a single piece of stone. The TIDA judges were particularly impressed by the material palette saying, "the combination of large marble-look porcelain tile on the walls and floor, together with the rusticated oak veneer on the wardrobe, contributes to the luxurious nature of the space."

Architect: Roy Tebbutt, Strachan Group Architects

The specific brief for the ensuite was to create a space with a warm Japanese feel where views across to the harbour could be experienced from the shower. By “thinking inside the box” the design manages to masterfully overcome its narrow 1.4m x 8m space.

Designer: Angelique Armstrong of Armstrong Interiors

This French inspired bathroom has a classic, feminine style that was designed to be functional for easy wheel chair access. The TIDA judges said they were "impressed with how the resulting design has achieved such an attractive balance of traditional and contemporary elements within a highly functional setting."

4. New Zealand Powder Room of the Year

Designer: Angelique Armstrong of Armstrong Interiors

The brief that Angelique Armstrong was given for this powder room was to design a dark and masculine space. Every detail is carefully executed to the highest degree. A back wall of blue stone, rough sawn timber cabinetry and a trough vanity basin create an organic feel that exudes quality and restraint.

Sitting pride of place on the third floor an impressive Auckland home, this sprawling master suite has a robust, almost bulletproof materiality. What stood out to the TIDA judges was how "the material palette created such a sense of consistency and balance across the different areas of this generously-sized master suite."
