This apartment project by Chad James Group is for a family of five who had transferred their lives from the western deserts of Arizona to Chicago.
Designed for a family of five who had transferred their lives from the western deserts of Arizona to Chicago. The family’s favoured designs were Western-oriented with dusty browns and sunburnt oranges.
“When I first came to see their home, I looked outside – the sun was just starting to set, and the streetlights were coming on,” says interior designer Chad James. “I immediately knew this would be the inspiration for their new home.”
The interior he brings together elements that reflect the architecture and atmosphere that is so indicative of Chicago.
James combined clean, crisp lines with abstract features to create a pied-à-terre that is both inviting and artsy. His color palette evokes the landscape of the city from the yellow golds of the streetlights to the hazy blue hues of the night sky and the nearby Great Lake.
He also created many personalized moments for the family such as the large sculpted hands on the table symbolizing family, and the I-Beams shaped in an “H” on the end of the kitchen islands to represent the initial of the family surname.
