A golden canopy and veil enliven the exterior of Ngoolark, the new student building at the Edith Cowan University in Perth. Designed by JCY Architects and Urban Planners the building references the curved, overlapping feathers of the Carnabys black cockatoo, after which it was named. On this south face, vertical sunshades minimise direct solar gain from the sun in the late afternoon.
