Contemporary new house with intersecting geometric volumes

The abstracted aesthetic of the exterior of this contemporary house continues on the interior, with a clean-lined, freestanding wall element separating bedroom and bathroom. A soffit ceiling adds to this sensibility. Grooves in the floor show where the commercial-grade pocket doors slide back into the wall. The homes central void acts as a thermal chimney drawing cool breezes through the open doors on both levels. In this mild climate the bedroom fireplace is more an attractive cosmetic feature.
